What is a 2.1 UK degree equivalent to in Indian GPA? - Postgraduate Admissions (Master's)

The basic entry requirement varies by university; however, a score of 60-80 percent is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, and a score of 50-69 percent is considered comparable to a UK 2.2 grading system.

Let's have a look for different universities equivalent requirement for Indian students.

1. King's College London



2. Imperial College London


To be considered for admission to a Master's e.g. MSc, MRes, MBA etc, applicants should normally have completed a three to four year Bachelor's degree from a mainstream university (state/federal or ‘deemed' institution) passed with a required grades.

Applicants for research should hold a three to four year Bachelor's degree and Master's degree, both passed with required grades. Integrated Master's degrees with required grades will also qualify an applicant for entry to Research.


Applicants from elite institutions (IIT, IIM'S, BITs, IISc, ISI, VIT) will be required to obtain a minimum overall average of 7 / 10 or 60%. These are the College minimum scores and particular departments may seek grades at a higher level.


Applicants from other approved institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average ranging from 7.5-8 / 10 or 65-70%. These are the College minimum range of required scores and particular departments may seek grades at a higher level.


3. London School of Economics (LSE)


To be considered for admission to a research programme, LSE would normally require a master's degree with a CPA/GPA of 3.3/4, 5/7, 6/8, 7/9, or 7.5/10


4. University of Warwick


For applicants looking to apply to our Postgraduate Taught or Research degrees, we would require a minimum First class or upper Second only, with minimum 60-80% depending on your institution. Applicants with a 5 year LLB from a recognized Indian institution will be considered with minimum 55-60% depending on the institution.

5. University of Cambridge


Professional Bachelor's (at least 4 years) in professional subjects such as Agriculture, Architecture, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Studies, Computer Applications, Engineering, Fine Arts, Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Planning, and Technology from any institution recoganised by Ecctis or Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce (3-4 years) from a Well-Ranked Institution with an overall grade of 70% or CGPA 7.3+.
